Sandy Yang-James

Sandy Yang-James, M.A., LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

I believe in hope and healing. The journey towards healing begins with you. This process may challenge you to be uncomfortable, to grow, and to be curious. As a Marriage and Family therapist, my intention is to work with individuals and families to create a safe and non-judgmental space in order to explore issues that are affecting your ability to show up as your best self in various areas of your life.  Treatment is unique for each individual and family system. I believe in meeting individuals and families where they are at and starting our work from there. My therapy style is honest and compassionate; with creativity, humor, and curiosity. My treatment approach draws on Bowenian family therapy, narrative therapy, dialectical behavior therapy techniques, and cognitive-behavioral techniques.

I received my undergraduate degree in Family Studies and Asian Studies from St. Olaf College and my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University of MN. I have previously provided in-home therapy services, school-based therapy services to adolescents and families, worked in partial hospitalization program, intensive outpatient programs, and worked as an outpatient therapist. I have experience working with individuals who are dealing with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, relationship conflict, and life transitions.

I work with individuals, families and couples middle-school age and older.
