Rachel Miller Jacobsen, M.A., LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
As mother of two—with a sixteen-year age gap!, I am well acquainted with the ups and downs of parenting. I have had experience as a single parent, and as part of a blended family. Like many parents, I have also dealt with the struggles of merging parenting styles with a partner. This background gives me a unique perspective on my therapeutic work with clients.
I have worked closely with several Early Childhood Family Education programs in the area, and love helping parents with transitions to and through parenthood. This experience has shown me that many new parents are struggling to manage their relationships now that baby (or second, third, fourth baby) has arrived.
Many mothers struggle with anxiety and depression during pregnancy and after giving birth, and often feel they are not free to talk about their feelings without fear of judgment. I hope to give parents the tools, resources, and understanding presence they need to help them feel better as their family changes. I work from a family systems perspective, with an interest in attachment and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
