Megan Manning, M.A., LMFT
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Hello, and thank you for taking the time and energy to consider therapeutic services at The Family Development Center. I started at this practice in September of 2016, with nine years of experience in the mental health field, including working with: adults experiencing homelessness, youth in a day treatment setting with an emotional/behavioral disorder diagnosis, elementary-aged children in the school setting and their families, individuals in recovery and their family members, and in several general outpatient settings with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families.
I encourage therapeutic services to be a part of everyone’s well-being plan, in addition to the more widely thought of and accepted elements of eating right, exercising and getting enough/good sleep.
I start the process with a free, 30-minute consultation, as I believe it is important for you to find a space and clinician that you are comfortable with, with the therapeutic relationship being an important factor of insight gained and growth made throughout the therapeutic journey.
As I learn and grow as a clinician, I find myself working well with several populations, including: those struggling with anxiety and/or depression (including postpartum specifically), couples – preparing for marriage, looking to enrich their marriage, wanting to dissolve their marriage amicably, and those transitioning to parenthood/looking for parenting guidance, and those enduring other life events/transitions.
I believe each person who walks through my door has a unique story, and therefore I utilize several therapeutic approaches to suit the needs of everyone, including being systemically trained, cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, experiential therapy and the research/interventions of John Gottman.
I am certified as a PREPARE/ENRICH Facilitator, have completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and have a Certificate of Completion from Postpartum Support International in Perinatal Mood Disorders: Components of Care.
Please feel free to be in touch with any initial questions, concerns or hesitations, as I would be honored to support you in beginning (or continuing) your focus and work on you (or a loved one). I look forward to getting to know you and your story.
